Title: Avast freezes/crashes a Windows System
Post by: REDACTED on September 14, 2017, 02:13:16 AM
When signing into a Windows App (Team.Biz) with the Avast Free Antivirus installed, Avast freezes the app to scan a background executable for any malware. However this scan takes longer than the stated "quick 15 seconds" and cannot be aborted (most likely it somehow cannot scan the executable and becomes stuck). The app is also frozen and cannot be closed nor forced end through task manager. This also causes the CPU usage of the computer to be always on very high load (>90%). To close the app (as well as the turn off the computer) is to do a forced shutdown since the app cannot be closed normally.

System: Windows 10

Part of the Windows app (Team.biz) developer and looking for a solution that does not involve asking users to adjust local machine settings to bypass this problem. This is most likely an Avast bug because the desired behavior should not freeze the app (as well as not being able to abort the scanning).

It is not a bug.

As you are a developer, read these FAQ's :

Checked the provided links, but the answer is apparent. The core problem for the whole system to "freeze" up is due to AVAST trying to read/scan an executable of a Windows App package (as seen in the original screenshot). But Avast does not complete this task (and cannot be aborted), and continues to consume all the CPU resources.
