Title: Deleting Viruses on Apple Time Capsule

Hi,

I ran Avast for my Mac (OS X 10.11.6) and it found 6 viruses.

I tried to delete several viruses stored in my TimeCapsule but it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Disable the time capsule.
Delete infections.
Enable the time capsule again if you wish.

I did disable the Time Capsule.  I tried to delete the viruses but Avast couldn't delete them.
'Delete Failed'.

I tried to remove one of the files manually:

sudo find . -name 135922.emlx -ls
8906413      256 -rw-r--r--    1 davidlaxer       staff              130921 Nov 21  2016 ./Backups.backupdb/David Laxer’s MacBook Pro/2017-10-06-053732/Macintosh HD/Users/davidlaxer/Library/Mail/V3/POP-david.laxer@softintel.com@mailsg.ixtopia.net/INBOX.mbox/BC431648-FFBD-4009-8158-4E255EC8A039/Data/5/3/1/Messages/135922.emlx



David-Laxers-MacBook-Pro:Messages davidlaxer$ sudo !r
sudo rm 135922.emlx
override rw-r--r--  davidlaxer/staff for 135922.emlx? y
rm: 135922.emlx: Operation not permitted

It doesn't work.

I do not believe you can edit the time machine files that are contained in the snapshots.  One way, would be to do a full backup to recreate the snapshot on a clean drive.

In any event, generally I exclude the Time Machine volumes on my Mac, as it tends to slow down manual scans quite a bit, and its no danger of executing if its only in that snapshot
