Title: Avast Ransomware Protection turning itself back on/causing crashes in games
Post by: REDACTED on October 15, 2017, 02:35:14 AM
My Avast Ransomware Protection causes crashes in games due to the various random files it continually decides to protect even when I remove them from the list.  As such, I turned off the protection.

However, as of today I noticed that every time I reboot, Ransomware Protection turns back on by itself.  Also, if I uncheck all file type kinds for it to protect, it still finds more files to protect on its own.  Is there any way to stop this permanently?

This behavior persisted after updating to the latest version of Avast Premier.

Repair Avast:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> Avast
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

When it crashes, does the game run in game mode or not ?
