Since the recent update of Avast I have noticed that Firefox is ready for updating.
In fact there are two on offer v55.03 & v56.0[64 bit]
I had v55 when I recently updated to v56.0
In fact the latest update for Firefox is v56.02[64 bit] which I am waiting to see if there are any problems before installing.
This update is not being offered by Avast.
A search in these forums has not shown any similar problem.
Is there a reason for this?
In addition, the Flash Player updates have not worked for some years and don't even show now.

Flash is updated via the windows updater.
As you can see, Avast just updated Firefox on my system this morning:

Thank you Bob
Not sure what you mean by 'Flash is updated via windows updater'
I update via the Adobe site. Sometimes Avast is slow at recognizing software has been updated. I only update from official sites - Avast provides a reminder.
As I said, I always watch for a few days to see how others fair with their updates - old habit I picked up many years ago with all Windows Updates sent out on Black Tuesdays.
Thanks for your reply
