Title: exclusion for background scan
Post by: REDACTED on November 19, 2017, 09:56:04 AM
Hello, I have a problem with the background scan of avast.
I have several hard drives installed in the pc, including an old 7200rpm seagate that turns out to be very noisy. For this reason I set the automatic shut down of the disks after 15 minutes.
The problem is that sometimes the background scan of avast accesses the disc while shutted down for about 20/30 seconds and scans some files; after which the disc will normally turn off after 15 minutes. This happens even more times in one hour, making almost counterproductive to turn off the disc.
I would like to know how and where to add an exclusion to that disk on avast for this background scan. If possible, keeping other monitoring options active; like the one who scan the programs while the boot from that disk.
thank you

the link doesn't work, i also have a problem of that: periodically, background avast activity load HDD on 100%, or CPU on ~30%;

why does Avast perform any actions that use system resources, without any visible reason, for example the disk waking-up when there was no activity for this disk?

all my friends that do not use avast, do so exactly because it make the system completely unusable for some time -- without asking and for no reason.
