Thanks for the new beta :)
-
Thank you, will check the scan functions in different platforms.

13 minutes into installation and I'm still stuck at 1/4 of a taskbar popup installation. What the hell is going on. Even stable version was taking stupendously long and this BETA is 10 times worse. I've already sent logs to Pavel Šuk on Slack. It's almost 0:30 in the morning and I have to go to sleep. I'll leave the thing do its thing. I wonder if it'll be complete in the morning when I have to leave for work. This isn't right, not on the system I have where it should take few seconds, not minutes...
-
Thanks Karel, testing...
-
Regarding Smart-Scan, same as reported in a prior beta.

No big issue, but FYI, the tray icon doesn't animate anymore.

I personally want to see the icon animation. It let's me know Avast is doing it's job. :)

+1
Something that used to be unique to Avast and useful that has gone, things that used to stand out from the crowd. More junkware (non security related) added when useful/unique features get removed.
-
I don't think it has been removed but rather just a bug that will be fixed in a future update...
-
Let me say this: if I would have done my work that way, I would have got fired!

I can confirm this is just bug you all found. It will be fixed in some future version of Avast (not sure if next beta).

Will it be fixed before the next regular release comes out???

will this be the final beta before the official release of 17.9? or are we expecting another beta this week? Thanks for the update

will this be the final beta before the official release of 17.9? or are we expecting another beta this week? Thanks for the update
Only Avast could possibly answer that as it rather depends on the progress of this beta, resolution of any bugs found (if they are serious not cosmetic).

Fixed BSOD caused by conflict between DELL percsas3 and aswSP drivers[/li][/list]
Can anyone direct me to forum posts or more information on the circumstances of this BSOD ?
PS, Do these release notes refer to fixes from previous betas or previous final releases? It might be helpful to note the version of Avast the issue was first introduced/identified, so they can be avoided if they have high risk.

Most probably not, as this is the first beta for V17.9...

Any improvement on Avast main GUI opening speed issue?

Reinstalled the system windows10 1703 with last update, then installed avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline ver17.8.2318, The next day, i get the information:your license is not valid.but this free antivirus.
The same system environment:windows10 X64 pro 1703 with last update. and comodo firewall 10.0.2.6396 installed.
then Install avast_free_antivirus ver17.7.3660.0,This did not happen。then direct upgrade to ver17.8.2318, "Your license is not valid" appearing again. There is a clear difference between the two versions.
After several attempts, should be to solve the problem:allow C:\Windows\System32\taskhostw.exe modify the following registry:
HKUS\*\Software\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\MY
HKUS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\CertificateTemplateCache
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\MY
"Your license is not valid" did not happen.
Test sytem: windows 10 1709 x64 pro with last update, remove ie and Edge.
Frist installed comodo firewall 10.0.2.6420 (hips was off), then installed avast free antivirus 17.9.2319. restast system.
Completed the start, imported comodo configuration, now hips was on, hips rules: avastsvc.exe avastui.exe avemupdate.exe aswidsgenta.exe taskhostw.exe TiWorker.exe seted to allowed programs. EVERY thing was ok. The next morning, power on the computer, every thing is ok.
Shut down at noon。Afternoon boot,Network closing, every thing is ok. But connect to the internet, "Your license is not valid" did happen.
I will do more try to solve this problem.

There will be next beta hopefully this week.
Unfortunately there will be no beta this week. We agreed to continue with bug fixing and release beta next week in better quality.

Is it safe to install version 17.9.2319 beta on Redstone 4 Windows 10 insider preview builds?
Because I do not want to get more green screen crashes on my computers again and have to rebuild windows like I do when trying to install 17.8.2318 on the latest fast ring Insider Builds.

No, Avast has already stated in one of the other threads that the Preview Builds aren't supported.

really that sucks because I have been using the insider builds mostly without any issues with Avast up until now. I guess I will be going Avast free for a while then. :(
Thanks for the info

That's what I'm doing on the one system that's running Insider Preview Builds.
If you think of it as Beta on a Beta, it really isn't a good thing and re-installing is even worse.

Cant use this version in W8.1. Plenty of BSOD restarting.

I suspect nedim_88 means scanning USB when connected, but avast already does that in a way that all activity is scanned.

I think he means a full USB drive scan when you plug it in. With real-time, I frankly really don't see the need for it. This would only make sense if your system is a massive transition place where a lot of USB devices passes through and you need to be sure USB drives leaving your system are spotless. But that's often not the case. For personal use, real-time will do the trick.
