Title: New "Shield" or virus/hack?
Post by: REDACTED on November 27, 2017, 11:38:33 PM
Last time my Avast updated, it asked to install content helper and the update showed what I'm posting in the screenshot. Is this an infection or Avast supplied?

Hello,

it is definitely not an infection, probably just a localization problem. Can you please generate a support package so we can investigate it further?

Avast -> Help -> Avast Technical support.

Thanks a lot.

I get the same issue coming up when I do an Avast scan.

I had a Mac repair do it and he said that because a Malwarebytes' scan doesn't come with anything, it is not a trojan/adware/malware.
In fact, he looked manually through my launch agents to see if anything dodgy is running in the background and it was not.

His advice is to contact Avast to resolve this issue.
Hopefully that can be done sooner rather than later!

Mac support gave me the same advice.

Hello,

please generate support packages for us and fill your email and write "New "Shield" or virus/hack?" in your feedback, so we can identify it.

Just to clarify things, the new Avast 13.0 (latest version is 13.2) comes with new paid features - Ransomware Shield and Wi-Fi Inspector.
Those are what you can see in your preferences window (only god knows why in Japanese)

Please try to (re)install the latest version and let us know if that helps:
