There have been a few significant changes:

Version 4.7.826
April 28, 2006
    * solved problem with installation on Windows NT 4.0 systems
    * fixed the Program Settings menu item in the avast tray icon menu
    * fixed a bug in the data storage that was preventing it from working correctly if the avast folder pathname contained non-Latin characters
    * solved a rare problem that could eventually cause even a crash of the OS during boot (Windows XP)
    * further enhanced compatibility with the latest Windows Vista builds
Version 4.7.827 was a bug fix of only a few KBs relating to a problem in 826.

So since your other system isn't connected to the internet and I assume that you aren't experiencing any problems. I would check the changes in 826 and decide if they are related to your other computer set-up and decide if you fee it worthwhile.

I too have a dial-up connection and avast is 10.5 MB (about 40 minutes) so it is not a small download but I would probably still download it and save it for use on both computers if there was ever a problem that required a reinstall.
