Title: Avast is Blocking website from loading.
Post by: fbuchanan on May 16, 2006, 08:36:49 PM
Hello All,

My company is using Avast Pro here at work. Its the latest version with all patches.

When some of my users (I'm the network admin) try to access certain University of Arizona websites while Avast is running, Internet Explorer (for both IE 6 & IE 7 Beta 2) times out, saying it can't find the webpage. I will provide the actual website to Avast Personnel if necessary to resolve this problem.

If I  stop Avast On-Access Protection and try to load the webpage, it loads correctly, again for both IE 6 and IE 7.

I'm wondering if Avast is blocking some script during the page load?

This is an work critical site, and I cannot have my users disabling Avast everytime they need to acces this site.

Any help will be most appreciated.

Sincerely,

FB

Maybe the forum: forum.avast.com

avast does not block the scripts, but scan them.

Maybe WebShield - with a warning (message) - is blocking the access to an infected site. But if you say the site is ok...  ::)
Which firewall do they use? Can they post a screenshot of this misterious timeout, saying it can't find the webpage...

Can you give some examples if they aren't any security/confidentiality issues ?

What firewall is being used ?

I have seen issues with ZA Pro and its Privacy Settings conflicting with the web shield provider in some sites, like Yahoo and Hotmail because of the login and redirect process flip flopping between http and https pages. Is this roughly similar to accessing the Uni pages ?

I assume you allow access for ashWebSv.exe the avast Web Shield, if not that is the type of message you would get for all web pages.
