Title: Ads for VPN
Post by: REDACTED on December 17, 2017, 03:56:52 AM
Every day I get a pop-up ad for VPN, once during a movie, once during a football match.

I understand the policy on pop-ups, but in this case I have VPN on both PC and phone, both paid up.

This is very annoying, and why is it every day?

Whilst this may seem strange to ask  - what avast version do you have (free, pro, AIS, premier) ?

If it is one of the paid versions also, then you should be able to switch off ads - avastUI > Settings > General > Popups disable the 'Show popup offers for other avast products.'

I have the free virus check, but pay for VPN and Cleanup.

It just popped up for today, in the middle of reading an article, this is soooo annoying.

I think that is the problem, you are effectively getting ads from the avast free program - which is dumb - as it isn't smart enough to recognise your license for the VPN and Cleanup.

I don't know if there is a way to get round this or not.

If you log on to your my.avast.com account and check the License section of that, does it show the licenses there ?

my.avast now shows no VPN.

I checked the purchase date and it was 12th August 2017.

I can't re-install because I let Cleanup into my Downloads folder and it deleted everything.

It is telling me the VPN expired on the 18th December, four months after I paid for one year.

Now Avast has taken $3.79 from my account for a VPN I don't have.

Anyone considering contacting Avast by email, don't waste your time, I have been trying for more than a week now with no reply, and did it through 'Contact Us' on avast.com.

billydean, unfortunately, Avast can take a few days to handle your situation (or even reply your email). This is the worst part of the Avast products...

The official method of contact is via the support ticket system.

How long has that been there ?
I can't recall having seen it, but the UI is in a state of flux, ever changing.
