Since the latest program update of Avast Free, I cannot use the Mail Add-in as Outlook 2016 disables it as it stops Outlook working. As of this moment I have no email protection. :(
Window 7 64 bit Pro

Same here.
Outlook 2016 on Windows 10

Reported on the Avast developers channel.
Remember that for Avast it's already past 8:00 PM

Same problem here.
Windows 7 Pro - Outlook 2016

Fair enough, but I still like to have my Avast protection.

Hi all,
this should appear only with debug logging turned on. As a temporary workaround you can turn it off. After I fix this problem, you can turn it on again.
-
Hi,
I got the same problem.
Just checked, that logging function is already off.
-
Also crashing outlook with premier since this new update
-
Not only does Avast version 17.9.2322 not work with outlook as it causes Outlook 2016 to crash, it also does not show any Avast add-in spam icons. However, when carrying out system restore to go back before Avast version 17.9.2322 it all works perfectly with outlook 2016, that is until Avast wants to install Avast version 17.9.2322. Not the best of Christmas presents as I suspect like many other users this time of year as it is possibly the busiest time for emails. Please sort quickly as it appears to me like others on this forum the new software wasn't checked thoroughly enough prior to release..

Thank you for your quick response.
I have checked in Options, Advanced, Other and Troubleshooting Logging is not selected.

Has anybody heard from Avast regarding a fix for this?

I see now, it is affected always. I will fix it asap.

For the records, I have the same issue.
Windows 10 64bit - Office 365 - Outlook 2016 64 bit
-
same problem in windows 10
-
This was reported to Avast right after the first report of a problem and is currently being worked on to resolve the problem.
-
Avast requested a restart to finish update, then this started to happen with Windows 10 and Outlook 2016 (Office 365) immediately crashing if Mailshield enabled.
After a lot of messing about I uninstalled Mailshield in settings / components and rebooted. Reinstalled Mailshield in the same place and rebooted Then opened Outlook and re-enabled the Avast Com plugin (clicked it twice cause nothing seemed to happen) Then rebooted.
On opening Outlook again I was surprised to see it was working correctly and with no disabled plugins.
Looks as though this could be something not updating correctly on the first attempt in Mailshield.
-
As already stated, this is a known bug and is already being addressed by Avast.
-
Thats as maybe but since its left us without email protection, when theres so many email borne attacks, then it would be wise to offer an option to roll back to the prevosu version that actually worked, until the new version works.
Does anyone have a link to download a previosu version that worked correctly?

Lao Pan's solution in reply#20 is the obvious fix until Avast sort themselves out. It's quick, it's easy, and it works.

Didn't work for me - Outlook 2016 immediately crashed after uninstall/reinstall of Mail shield with reboots after each...
-
Didn't work for me either (W10 - Off365)
-
Strange. I've done it successfully on my desktop and laptop. Both on W10, and Office 2013.
-
I have Windows 10 and Avast Internet Security (paid version). This bug showed up when I rebooted and Avast informed me of its latest update. Outlook Anti-spam icons have disappeared and Outlook says the Add-In component is disabled due to unknown compatibility. Furthermore, even though some spam emails are labeled as such, they do not move to the Junk folder.
Please fix ASAP.

We are using paid versions of Avast and Not just Outlook 2016 issues, also Outlook 2013 and 2010 as well have same issue. 4 computers running various versions of outlook (2010 and 2013) all have same issue with the outlook Add-in using Avast internet security paid version.... Just to be clear, not just on outlook 2016.. ALL versions this happens to.
-
I appear to have the opposite problem. With Logging enabled, the Avast add-in crashes Outlook 2016.
But enabling logging appears to allow the add-in to run without crashing Outlook (so far, at least).
Go figure?
-
Very poor as it looks like the software was not adequately tested with the world's most used email client. Same problem here Outlook 2016 and Windows 7 SP2.

Unfortunately Lao Pan's workround did'nt work for me on Outlook 2010.

Here, same problem.
Windows 10 64 bits, outlook 2010.
Solution in # 20 don't work too.
-
All -
A modified approach to #20 worked for me.
Win10 Pro, Outlook 2016 (O365) with iCloud add-ins.
In Avast Setting: Components > Customize (on Mail Shield > Uncheck Scan newsgroups messages (NNTP)
Reboot. This stopped my crashing issue. I hope it helps some of you guys.

A modified approach to #20 worked for me.
... but not worked for me and many others users!
Where are Avast developers?
When they fix this f*****g problem?
C'mon guys - do something!
-
My fix worked but is temporary and does not require the multiple reboots suggested in #20 reply.
Build `17.9.2322 has an obvious flaw working with the spam protection add-in.
I simply reverted back to build 17.8.2318 and changed updates to manual. I updated the virus defs and left the engine update alone.
All worked again with no problems or errors.
This is temporary until we hear from the developers about a fix and update because it's obviously and flawed program update.

... ok, but where can i back to old version?
AVAST DEVELOPERS - HOW LONG WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMEBODY FIX THIS BUG?
I paid for Avast Internet Security and i can't use it now - that is ridiculous! :(

Having just paid for a multi-year upgrade on a full security suite from Avast, I was quite disappointed when the Avast Add-In crashed. It had been working quite well with dedicated buttons on the menu ribbon for BlackList and WhiteList. Very accessible and functional. Suddenly ....poof. And Microsoft Outlook informs you that the Avast Add-In is causing Outllook to crash and it must therefore be disabled.
It seems like quite a few people have this problem. Does anyone from Avast read and respond to these queries? Those who are paying extra for the protection expect it to work, at least better than the free version.

Windows 10 64bit - Office 365 - Outlook 2016
Where is an update for this error? I paid money for this software and it can not protect me as promised.

Temporary fix available

It's doing it AGAIN!!!!! I can't fecking believe this...

Getting this problem on a new install of Avast. Add-in disabled because slow to load. Outlook 2013 and 2016 crashed whilst Avast was installed.
