Title: Microsoft VPN can't get out through Avast Firewall
Post by: Mark657 on December 23, 2017, 06:01:19 AM
Hello. I use the built in Microsoft VPN  in Windows 7 to access some customer VPNs from my laptop. This used to work fine. But a few months back, after an Avast upgrade, the VPNs stop connecting. I have to disable my Avast Firewall temporarily to get through. This only happens with the MS VPNs. Not other ones like Cisco.

I have the same setup on a desktop PC, but everything is fine. I don't need to disable the Avast Firewall to connect to a customer VPN.

I tried looking at settings and rules between the two PCs, hoping I simply needed to change something. But no luck.

In the VPN setting itself, there is a difference. I do NOT have TCP/IP V6 enabled on the laptop (problem) PC. I tried enabling it but no luck, assuming I did not need to reboot.

Can anyone help? Any ideas? Thanks.
