Title: Help - Avast + Meltdown/Spectre Windows Update
Post by: REDACTED on January 13, 2018, 05:58:37 PM
Hi I have been looking through the forums, but did not find a satisfying answer to my problem:

I have three computers and on all of them I have Windows 10 installed and Avast. Avast is updated to the newest version, including the emergency patch. The registry key exists on all of the computers, therefore I figured that the emergency patch was installed correctly on all three.

Now, when I start the Windows Updater, on all of my computers there is still NO update from Microsoft available regarding Meltdown/Spectre. Using the tools provided, it tells me that I would need the update for all three of my computers.

Why am I still not seeing any Microsoft Updates? And why do I have the same problem on three computers with Avast? Is there any other way than deinstalling AVAST on all of them, installing the Windows Update and then re-installing AVAST? Because that would take me lots of time...

If you use AMD, see: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=212691.msg1440520#msg1440520

Nope, all three PCs have Intel processors.

Is there any solution to this problem?

https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/pin/1304/security-software/spectre-meltdown-cpu-checker

try this tool.

also try the ms update troubleshooter if this does not solve the problem.

Meltdown security patch was release days ago. Spectre patch will arrive soon but i dunno if MS will be the one releasing the patch so should visit the Intel website for updates.

That tool isn't safe and will disable your ability to receive the required update.
