Hi everyone!
I've used avast! Home edition for a couple of years and I'm very pleased with it. But the other day, I got the message "Program cannot set property into main Storage" when starting the program. I use the 4.7 version and as far as I can understand, changing the database in the avast4.ini-document won't do the thing in this case... I tried it anyway and then the "operating memory & startup items-test" seemed to be working, so the scanning process, but - suddenly the on access protection didn't work at all...
I've also tried to repair the program in the Windows control panel.
I use Windows 98 (yes, I know... Stoneage...). Is it a good idea to download the recommended ODBC-kit from Microsoft? But will it actually solve the problem?
I use some other security programs, such as AdAware, Spybot & Registry Mechanic. Could I by mistake have taken any related files away...?
Sincerely,
J.

Since version 4.7.807 a new data storage called SQLT is used by avast!
Which version are you using?
Maybe the Jet drivers (MDAC package) of Microsoft could help (http://www.microsoft.com/data).
I downloaded the MDAC Utility: Component Checker...
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8F0A8DF6-4A21-4B43-BF53-14332EF092C9&displaylang=en
My version is MDAC 2.8 SP1 on Windows XP SP2. No Problems were found.
There's also an MDAC/Jet repair tool... http://www.macropool.com/en/download/mdac.html#Repair
Hope this helps...
