Title: Cannot activate Firewall
Post by: REDACTED on January 21, 2018, 08:30:20 AM
After upgrade to Win10 1709 build 17074.1002 prerelease flt 180116-1539 Avast starts with inactive firewall and it is not possible to switch it on. When switching on the UAC dialog appears and after confirmation nothing happens (no message, firewall won't activate). Reinstalling didn't help. What can be the problem<

Repair Avast:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> Avast
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

That didn't help. As I have written, even the reinstallation didn't help.

That is a pre-release build of Windows 10 and most likely Avast or any AV other than Defender isn't compatible with it yet. The same applies to new insider builds.

bob3160: thanks for the hint. I haven't tried yet (too lazy ;-) ).
Alikhan: that is also my presumption. I was only curious, if it already has a solution / Avast is aware of it.
After another reinstallation the Avast service does not start at all - it reports that Defender prevents Avast from taking over the control.

thanks to all
