Thanks Jan, testing it asap...
-
Regarding Smart-Scan, same as reported in a prior beta.
-> https://forum.avast.com/index.php?msg=1429560
Add "Sensitive Data Scan" to the list, it doesn't show up either.
-
Good decision to add Behavior Shield to the minimal installation option. I hope Exploit Shield is also included in Minimal install option...
EDIT:
Where is this Exploit Shield even located? Can't find ANYTHING about it in the interface...
-
Still not fixed: The tray icon doesn't animate anymore.

EDIT:

Exploit Shield does not have separate section in the Avast UI. There is just a checkbox where you can enable/disable this feature. It is in troubleshooting section in settings, similar to anti-rootkit monitor.
-
Oh, ok. Thank you.

One more thing, does Exploit Shield have its own popup or how exactly does it work when exploit is detected? Or is it connected to File Shield or Behavior Shield?

Will Anti-Exploit be part of Free Edition or will that be a paid Shield? Don't wanna install the beta on this system, but will if recommened to
-
AntiTrack failed to install on my laptop...
-
Will Anti-Exploit be part of Free Edition or will that be a paid Shield?
The screenshot of RejZoR shows, that that's a premium version! But don't be sure, that the 'Anti-Exploit' will be a part of the free version of Avast.

AntiTrack is a stand alone component. It will not be a part of free version. Not really sure how it works, extension for browser already has anti tracking features hm... But since it failed, I have no clue how it works...

Thanks, RejZoR, for clearing this.

Has avast's new anti-exploit module been tested for compatibility/conflicts with other well-known anti-exploit programs? --- specifically, with MalwareByte's anti-exploit module and/or with Microsoft's EMET? If there are any known conflicts, what is their resolution? (I assume the answer will be to disable/uninstall the other program...)
-
Well, I don't think you have to enable/disable it, for it will be a stand-alone-program.

Don't mix up AntiTrack with Anti-Exploit. ;)
-
After updating via GUI from 18.1.2323 to 18.1.2324 and then rebooting, i had a BSOD.
Minidump is available if needed.

Thanks for the new beta :)
Edit:
Avast Antitrack.

No need to wait, AntiTrack is a paid/standalone component while Anti-Exploit is not.

You're welcome.

Come on, what's with this stupid online installer!?!?!!?!??! ::) It is just stuck at the initial splash screen with progress bar bouncing back and forth and that's it...
Installer always worked like a charm, but in the last few months it became absolute disaster. It's literally a wonder if I get a consistent installation twice in a row on my system these days. What gives?!
EDIT:
Aaaaand it's again stuck at installation, going through it at absolutely ridiculously slow pace. I just don't get it.

To me it looks like it might be a good time to stop trying to push out new betas
and start concentration on clearing up all of those outstanding bugs.

Yes.Too many new addons and so less bugs fixed. ???

Couldn't agree more, hell there some bugs going back several program updates. Now that Avast is trying to go to one program update a month with a point one increment (17.8 - 17.9, etc.), it looks bad.
Hell even what would be considered simple bugs, the avast tray icon animation, being just one. Whilst avast might consider this as a non-important, users think otherwise, the forums show this.
It is now into the years category that avast promised to improve the right click menu for the tray icon, nothing, nada, zilch, zero improvements. Unless of course you consider the removal of certain options (hardly an improvement), the Show last popup message. This was a very handy option for the user to capture an image of the message.
The same is true of the Statistics options that were removed some considerable time ago to be revamped, again nothing, nada, zilch, zero.
A period of consolidation is most certainly required, no new additions until we have a bug free version of avast.

I've always agreed with, and stated these observations.... pay more attention to the 'fine details' (bugs) and you'll end up with a finely tuned smooth fully functioning software program.
Hasn't seemed to alter the course.
-
I Agree paying attention to details very important to have a proper functioning software, even more so critical for Antivirus/Malware protection products and Operating systems, Sure a small bug may slip thru now and then, but show stopper bugs shouldn't, and others customers have come accustomed to as well should work fine
Sure it's hard to test i'm sure of every possible configuration in the real world, as theres millions of PC's, configured all sorts of ways, Intel, AMD processors, different memory configurations, hard drives, ssd, etc , but testing for the most common processors, chipset, and such hopefully contrails as many bugs as possible.
Bug Free version of Avast would be perfect to go along with the upcoming Spring Release of Redstone 4 for Windows 10, hopefully we will see that and perfect, Trying Defender on my Insiders PC, left me missing Avast even on that system lol, as something broke Defender last night, probably some engine update they sent, as can't get it to even scan now, so can't wait for Redstone 4 final, and Avast will work again on it

I am for this 100% make a solid final version for once in many moons and move the f*#@k on
I am really tired of being a ginny piggy for avast..done it for many many sunrises!!
and this little ditty( AntiTrack) should also b packaged with the free version!

Hi,
anti-track didn't work on my pc when I switch to Standard user account... So, not very useful...
Best regards,
M.

Hello. Anti-Exploit module is new shield or part of webshield? Can we expect some slowdown? Could you explain how it works?
And because betas are here only for few days, can we expect global BSOD's and other problems in stable version?
Thank you.

Is that really an actual question ???

I'm more wondering how are exploit detection presented to the user. With a popup?

I have no idea what you're on about. Participating/VOLUNTEERING in a beta gives you the newest features at the cost of possible bugs. It is an action performed by people that want to donate their time to improve a product that they are passionate about. You are not entitled to anything for volunteering.
Also, out of curiosity, by what metrics has the president "fixed" the economy?
-
Lol, avast! is a Czech company. It literally has nothing to do with Trump lol
