This happens to me twice for the last two days already. I was downloading games from wargaming.com and so I leave my computer running before I went to bed. Next morning I get up, I saw the downloads stoped and the network icon show a exclamation mark on it.
I tried to reboot my computer and my router. NOT WORKING.
I check my iPad and iPhone, the internet is working on these two.
After I uninstall Avast free anti-virus, the internet is working.
First I think I might chang some setting by accidently and casue the Avast close my internet.
I install the Avast free anti-virus again and do not change any setting and keep downloading games from wargaming.com.
After a few hours(probably 8 or 9 hours, or longer. ), my internet stop working again.
This time I uninstall Avast right after I find my internet stop working.
My internet is back to normal after Avast is uninstalled.

- Which Avast..? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
Avast free anti-virus (I have mentioned it in my post)
- Which version..?
I don't know the version when I first encounter the problem. However, the second time I downloaded directly from the Avast homepage. So it should be the latest version
- OS..? (32/64 Bit..? - which SP/Build..?)
Win10, 10.0.16299, build 16299, 64bit, Home version.
- Other security related software installed..?
only the build-in windows defender and CCleaner free version but CCleaner is used for cleaning registry and disk space.
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?
I can't remember. after I bought my computer, I uninstall everything and install Avast immediately.

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)..!!
-> https://support.avast.com/article/11/
Then:
1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

Unfortunately, there's no additional support (Email/Phone) for Avast Free.
But you can wait for one of the guys with W10, maybe they can help...

What firewall are you using??? What was your previous AV and how did you remove it ???
