Title: Can't delete file stored in the virus storage
Post by: REDACTED on February 18, 2018, 12:01:37 PM
Hello people!

The other day I downloaded an installation file that was supposed to be an update for a photo editing software I'm using but Avast recognized it as a threat and stored the file in the vault or whatever you want to call it. I decided to just get rid of the file and try another mirror which worked. But the problem is I can't remove the file from my computer using the remove file option in the storage list. When I select delete I get a popup asking if I want to delete the file permanently, I click yes but nothing happens. The file sits there. Is there a way to be rid of it permanently manually if Avast refuse to delete it?

And if you reboot?

When you delete files in a computer they are not actually gone, you are just telling the OS that this part of the disk can be over written when / if the OS need that place

As you can see in the printscreen I got the "infected" file on February 11, meaning I have been doing reboots and shutdowns since I got it and still the file won't go away.

I have the latest version, (18.1.2326). I as instructed tried a repair just now and gave it a reboot but Avast is not letting me deal with the file still. I have also ensured nothing is still lingering with a full system scan using Avast, and a separate scan with Malwarebytes.
