Title: Script Blocker
Post by: FifeFlyer on December 31, 2003, 03:27:00 PM
I am a user of the Avast Home edition and thought I would try the 60 day trial of the Pro edition.

However, upon uninstalling the home edition and installing the Pro edition web pages aren't working properly. I.E. on visiting the avast homepage the menu's (Products, Downloads, Purchase, Support etc) no longer drop down. (Buttons on other web pages aren't appearing either - java script?)

Put the home version back on and they work!

The only major difference I can think of is the Script Blocker, could this be causing a problem?

Strange indeed. Anyway, this is commonly corrected by a well configurated IE by Tools > Options > Advanced and then, both, Java script and Microsoft Virtual Machine (VM).

Do you have other browser to test?

The same thing happens to me

avast home works fine
but the pro version stops all windows based java script from working

all javascript in IE stops working
all javascript in windows stops working, like searching for files or the help and support center
also I can't access the control pannel to see if the services are still running after an uninstall

I've had this before and reinstalling windows fixed it, but this time I can't even do that, so I'm having to use another computer

odd thing is javascript in opera works fine

I really like avast and I was going to buy the pro version for all my companies computers but I can't if it wont work  :(
