Title: Avast premier is stuck and will not shut down

I had to buy a new desktop and transferred my avast premier license to my now computer.
It has stalled when the program asked me to activate the core programs.
In the bottom right hand of my screen there is aa avast box that says
"we're getting ready to actively protect your computer. " When I try to shut down my computer to use the avastclear uninstaller my computer tells me that two programs are preventing it from shutting down. They are the avast set up and installer.  I do have the option to close anyway
but I am afraid to do that . Also the avast premier is blocking most of desktop and the other little box in the right corner is blocking part of my screen on the web pages.

- Which version of Premier..?
- OS..? (32/64 Bit..? - which SP/Build..?)
- Other security related software installed..?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?
