Title: Firewall blocks my printer
Post by: HawkerEng on February 28, 2018, 08:54:15 PM
Just upgraded from AVAST free to AVAST paid version.
I can no longer print to my HP Laserjet 5000  printer but did before the upgrade.

If I disable the firewall it works. How can I add an exception to make this work?
The printer prints over Ethernet via TCP/IP port to 192.168.1.99

Thanx

1. Is your Firewall mode set to Private?
2. Is "Intenet Connection Sharing Mode" enabled via Firewall > Settings > Policies?

Yes

No, should it be?
My network is a few computers all sharing internet via the same router. I also have a small Windows home server and hope to add a QNAP NAS soon.

You will need to have it enabled if your printer is connected to your local network. By default, it is disabled.
