Title: Auto-scanning of movie files in WebShield
Post by: greenhatch on June 15, 2006, 10:05:28 AM
Just a remark for you all. I just downloaded a QuickTime file from which sprang a site pop-up for a dating site. It was a timely reminder as to why I removed the MIME exclusions from my WebShield scanning. I appreciate downloaded movie files can be scanned after download but we are generally led to believe movie files are safe, heh.

Have you updated Quicktime recently? Older versions have security vulnerabilities.

MY QT is the latest version, yes. My point is that movie/video files can be compromised and maybe should not be excluded by default in the Web Shield.
