Hi, Lately Avast has been blocking my IE web pages and Outlook - trying to connect to pop mailboxes.
If I disable the firewall, connect, then re-enable the firewall, everything seems fine from then on (for established tabs anyway).
If I create a group/application rule in the firewall with all connections allowed for both apps, this also seems to fix the problem. I think this started happening 1 or two updates ago.
My questions are:
1) Has anybody else noticed this behaviour, &
2) Does it seem insecure to allow all connections on these two apps, is that likely to allow something in?
Avast Premier 18.2.2328
IE: 10
Outlook 2010: V14
Win: 7 pro SP1.
many thanks.

- Other security related software installed..?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?

Yep: malwarebytes 3.3.1 premium.
>Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?
Um, not sure - if any. Been using Avast for years now, & I think it was the first to go onto the PC, although it was the free version back then.

1. Download Avast Premier Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.
PS: Regarding Avast & Malwarebytes, see: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/200324-exclusions-for-avast-users/

Thanks for your help Asyn.
In short it seems to be working now.
Details:
Avast cleaner would not run in safe mode, or safe mode-command prompt, kept complaining about a stub not able to run. So I tried in 'normal' mode, despite warning against it, it seemed to complete successfully.
After reinstall/relicence/reboot, Avast came up in passive mode - which I didn't know about. It did that because of Malwarebytes. I don't really want Avast as scan only, so I took passive mode off, restarted, and all seems well for now anyway. I know plenty of people advise against more then one AV pgm, but I find the risk of a conflict worth it for the extra protection (probably) afforded. I've never had a problem with them conflicting - until now, maybe.
I'm not sure if there was a conflict, but they both seem to be running happily now.
I would still like to know if anyone else has had similar issues...
Thanks again.
