Title: UI Failed to load AGAIN
Post by: REDACTED on May 10, 2018, 07:03:05 PM
Hi me again.

So... it happened again after you guys released your new update today.

When my computer restarted I got the same 'UI Failed to load' error.

I had to do a clean re-install of your product AGAIN just to fix it.

I thought you guys fixed it? Clearly not.

Yes I'm doing the uninstall correctly except for the 'disconnect from internet' part because it won't let me uninstall Avast if I disconnect from the internet.

Are you guys going to fix this or not?

Have to do a clean re-install of Avast twice is ridiculous. I can accept once. But twice? No. Just no.

I'd appreciate any help with this.

Thank you.

I'll wait to see if they make a permanent fix before getting that desperate. I fixed the issue by doing another clean re-install of Avast.

But doing this is getting infuriating.  >:(

Guys, from whom Avast gives out the error of loading the interface, use this program (https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Submit-support-file/) to generate a help file and write his number here.

If you wish to stay faithful to the Avast family, you could try switching to Avg until the problem is resolved. Seems to be less affected.  :)

Had this happen on my Systems as well as Behavior Shield Failing to Turn on,  All 3 Most used systems,   Fixed by Doing a Whole Computer Clean Install on each one,  So far Avast is working properly even updated to new version fine.

Almost switched to Windows Defender on all of them, but decided to go ahead with clean install and give it one more shot staying with Avast Free

lol no.

They need to just provide an actual fix that resolves this permanently.

UI Failed again on AMD FX 8310 System so far, heck that machine wasn't even doing much, earlier hard drive maintenance a bit, disk cleanup, defrag, then left it idle a bit, and was using main system,  trying second reboot to get the stupid UI to respond

Solution provided by support (in Portuguese), seems to be working so far:

1. Press Win and R and type services.msc, click OK
2. Under Services (Local) find Remote Desktop Services
3. Right click on that and select Properties
4. Under General TAB go to Startup Type and select Automatic
5. Apply and OK reboot the machine

Hope that helps. So far so good on my side, let's keep fingers crossed.

*sees that person only has 17 posts*

I refuse to trust this unless someone else reports that this works.

If your talking about that 'support phone number' I've heard on this very forum that the 'phone number' is a scam.

I seriously don't trust this and won't.

I suppose I'll just continue to wait for the devs to make an actual permanent solution to the issue.

Up to you, trust or not it is your problem. This was given to me by email from the support team and I passed it along in good faith.
On a side note, why are you to be trusted more than me based on the number of posts?

I really didn't mean any offense. I was just saying that I needed more information on if this actually works or not.

I'm trying to wait for an official response to this from the devs.

Yes the problem is that auto-recovery when service isn't running doesn't work on latest Windows 10. We plan to release hotfix for version 18.4 today, and next week also fix for version 18.3

Have you done so yet? If so how is the 'fix' implemented?

Further... is it a permanent fix?

That's not really a true 'fix' though. They need to actually do something to fix this issue permanently.

Still waiting for a fix.

So bump.

If you aren't going to try any of the workarounds, then I guess you will have to wait for a fix.

Bumping the topic isn't going to change that.

I never said I wouldn't try one of the workarounds. I'll try them if it takes to long for the devs to implement a permanent fix.

As Dave already mentioned, repeating yourself over and over again in countless threads won't help...

All of a sudden the UI failed to load issue is back only two days after applying the workaround of turning Desktop Remote Services to Automatic
Title: Re: UI Failed to load AGAIN

disabling virtualization did not help, the activation of the Remote Desktop service does not help, Аvast Premier also gives this error.

I have exactly the same problem and would really appreciate it if the avast-developers could solve this issue

And now I'm glad I didn't try it. Clearly it was only a temporary fix and a permanent fix is needed.

The devs need to fix this issue permanently. The sooner the better. If not people are going to look for other free anti-viruses.

the only thing that "works" for me so far is not shutting down or restarting my computer. I just put it on sleep mode and it worked for today.
but of course thats not a solution, just a little workaround.

Right. I only restart my Windows 10 laptop about once a week but if a permanent fix isn't done by that point next week I guess I'll just have to wait for a permanent fix before I can do that.

Maybe that is why I had so many issues, as I shutdown all the machines nightly, Laptop, Desktops 1 and 2, Desktop 3 sleeps,  maybe i'll do my clean install in morning and give Avast 1 more shot, but if it storms, then I may have to shutdown, almost thinking of just using Windows Defender

I'd do that too but Avast has pretty much kept me virus free for so many years now that I've actually lost count. I'm unsure if Windows Defender would do the same.

*sighs*

The devs really need to permanently fix this...  :-\

So apparently @hectic-mmv just posted in another thread that an update is going to be released in another attempt to fix this.

My questions:

When?

How is the 'update' implemented?

Does it fix the issue permanently?

On the other hand, it doesn't seem to have gone as planned.

Whilst I haven't experienced this problem on XP or win10 systems, despite having rebooted win10, the registry key has a MicroUpdates entry, but there is no 356= number.

The  356=1526391120 number is present in my XP registry entry, but the regkey location is different HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVAST Software\Avast\MicroUpdates.

That system however hasn't been rebooted today.

I thought the issue was only effecting Windows 10 computers?

Because I have the same exact Avast Free Antivirus program on a Windows 8 computer and the 'UI Failed to Load' error never occurred on it.

Alright I'll restart my Windows 10 laptop tomorrow and see what happens.

If the problem still occurs and I have to do a clean re-install of Avast Free on my Windows 10 laptop a third time... well...

Except a third new topic created by me.  :-\

I wife was using version 18.3.233, rebooted now get UI Failed to load. tried several reboots does not help. Now using Windows Defender Security.

Other 2 computers have version 18.4.2338 hoping the micro update coming don't cause the UI Failed to load problem.

No issues from Avast on the restart and no 'UI Failed to Load' message.

In other words... it seems the issue has been permanently fixed. Or... I hope so anyway.

Now don't let this happen again.  :-\
