Title: Update avast free and obtained a 4th AIS license
Post by: chris.. on May 14, 2018, 07:55:00 AM
Hello,

I have an AIS 3 pcs license (130 days remaining) and a 4th pc with avast free ( 300 days remaining) .
All on the same account (same email address) reported in my.avast.com .
Yesterday, I turned on the 4th pc and accepted the v18.4.2338 free avast update and restarted.
I entered my email address in the interface, but because of this avast automatically passed me this pc on AIS without asking me my opinion.
As a result, I find myself with AIS on 4 pc (instead of 3).
As long as only 3 pcs are connected at the same time, it shouldn't be a problem, but what happens if all 4 pcs are connected?
How should I go back with avast free and continue to find it in my avast account with the other 3 , with the same e-mail?
Will avast still have the remaining 300 days of avast free even though I know that now there is no subscription for free

Hi Chris, if you use it on more systems than paid for the license can get blocked.

So how to give the 4th one free (and especially that it stays free) since when I connect to my account by the IU the device using the free switches to AIS ?

I'd like to know if it's a bug, maybe it should be fixed before avast blocks my license even though I didn't ask for it.

Might be a bug, wait for one of the devs and/or submit a ticket: https://support.avast.com/contact

I would have thought that if you have the 4 installations of avast linked to your my.avast.com account, you/it would handle the allocation of licenses to your devises.

So I don't believe it shouldn't allow you to allocate it to a 4th system when already assigned to 3 devices already.

I use the same configuration for years and my account avast (same email address) has always been the difference between my 3 devices with AIS and the 4th with avast free.
It's only since the redesign of the UI, where access to my account is no longer done by clicking on my email address at the top right of the main window of the UI but through "Menu" -> "My Licenses" -> "manage my account" that the 4th device is passed on AIS.
nb: it is not me who is voluntarily clicked on "Securing another device"
When I rebooted windows later, the interface no longer announced "avast free" but "avast internet security" and informing me that an agent was disabled: the firewall.
I activated it, but no matter, the interface was already AIS

On the other hand when we say "4 devices at the same time", it's pretty subjective because the connection information of my devices in my avast account is wrong, it displays a last connection 24 to 48 hours earlier even if in fact the device has never stopped being connected.
I do not really know if avast sees the same thing on his side (real time) as what I see in my account?
