Title: What happened to Avast Pro Antivirus?
Post by: REDACTED on June 27, 2018, 02:29:42 PM
It seems Avast has abandoned / deprecated this product.  It can still be found here - https://www.avast.com/en-us/pro-antivirus , but only through a Google search.  Otherwise, it has been wiped from the Avast website.  I believe it is the best Avast product - relatively light weight, decent protection, can disable advertisements, reasonably priced (sometimes).

Does anybody have any inside information about Pro's future?

Thanks,

Pro is the new Internet Security, all versions downloadable from the forum here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=219889.msg1466267

Avast Pro has not been discontinued. It still works and can be renewed.

It is just not promoted as before and end of life for Avast Pro has not been officially announced yet.

What I really want for me and most of my clients is Avast Free (Shields Only) without the advertisements/nags and at a reasonable price.  Purchasing Pro for 3 years at about $20/year was a good solution.  I will continue with Pro for now, but I am concerned by the lack of attention it receives from Avast.

I disagree that "Pro is the new Internet Security".  Totally different products which previously co-existed.  Perhaps "Pro" should be renamed "Essentials" and have all the bloatware (e.g. SafePrice browser extension - gimme a break!) removed.  I know it will never happen, but one can dream!

Well if you actually do a Custom install or a Minimal install, which only installs the File System Shield, Web Shield and Behaviour Shield, none of the other components.
