Title: Problem With Avast and Chrome
Post by: REDACTED on July 09, 2018, 08:35:04 AM
Presumably you have recently updated the free version of Avast, and it is causing problems with Google Chrome. When I enter Chrome, I keep getting the message that Avast is interfering with the proper functioning of Chrome, and it requests that I remove it. I ignore the message, and proceed without problems, but something is obviously wrong.

I have the following configureation:avast (vps 180710-2, program: 18.5.2342) and google chrome 67.0.3396.99 under WINDOWS 10.0.17134. I do receive the same kind of message when I open Chrome, message suggesting to remove AVAST antivirus because it interferes with operations. Chrome mentions also that it closed incorrectly and propose a restauration of previous session. But according to me, it closes apparently fine each time.

Hi Chuck44,
it is test of : https://blog.chromium.org/2017/11/reducing-chrome-crashes-caused-by-third.html feature. We saw chrome to advice to remove intel tools, dropbox, f-secure, eset and other software.
People from chrome confirmed it.
We are working on fix !
Thank you for report.

I've noticed that Chrome will crash with only specific sites. Every time I visit the Sephora website or my online banking website, Chrome crashes with no warning. When I open Chrome again it says Avast is incompatible and I should remove it. I'm really hoping there's a solution to this!

Same problem here.

I installed the latest Avast Free a couple of weeks back - have been using Avast for many many years - and this version has really messed with my Laptop.  HP i7 Win7 16GB

Chrome freezes when fetching content. I cannot even scroll the page up and down as before.

InCognito mode works fine, but not the normal mode. Firefox also works fine.

Hi Biox,
What version of avast and chrome do you have ?
What kind of system do you have is it x86 or x64 platform.
Do you have issues when you visit specific site or you cant launch chrome at all ?

As I dont have enough information please try these few steps :
1) Disable self defense for a while
2) rename C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\aswjsFlt.dll to  C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\aswjsFlt.dll.org
3) Start new instance of chrome process !!

Please let us know if it helped.
