Title: Rescue Disk doesn't even boot
Post by: priestlucas123 on August 17, 2018, 05:54:12 PM
Using Avast Free, 18.5.2342 (build 18.5.3931.358), on Windows 7 SP1 with all Microsoft updates installed.

Created a new Rescue disk this morning, Avast said created successfully, but when I try to boot from it I see the blue, four square flag, followed by a DOS window scrolling a bunch of lines but then my machine reboots; never reaches Avast UI.

I tried doing a Repair, clean install first running AvastClear, and even uninstalled and reinstalled both Windows Deployment Tools and Windows PE x86 x64 programs.

Could someone please see if they can reproduce this problem. Thanks.

Have you got the Windows boot order of windows set to boot into CD/DVD prior to normal windows boot ?

Confirmed.  +1

Same as above post in every way.

USB stick loads, DOS window appears, but OS gui never does, and results in an immediate reboot again and again, with each cycle repeating as above per OP exactly.  You have to pull the usb before BIOS loads, else reboot/load/reboot cycle is endless.

It's cause by small update that was delivered to version 18.5 to fix another issue. In version 18.6 (currently in beta), Rescue Disc works again. sorry for the inconvenience.
