Title: my mac avast can not update!

it seems that the mac avast is not so good. I first experience problem, "engine can not start" then i need to copy the 400.vps to another folder to solve it, now, when i click update, when the status change to downloading, it got hang!
is there any body who can help me!!?? ???
I am using the latest version of avast mac edition, mac os x 10.5.2 and 56K dial up connection
help me please!!!

Unfortunatelly I have to say that your version of macOSX is not supported anymore. Currently we support 10.9+, previous Avast Mac AV supported 10.6+. The AV version for 10.5 is very old. And it doesn;t receive new virus definitions anymore.
If you are on 10.6 then you can find the older version at https://www.avast.com/en-us/download-software
