Title: Caution: WGA Imitation Spyware
Post by: bob3160 on July 10, 2006, 03:02:17 PM
As tension mounts over Microsoft's use of the anti-piracy install Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA),
headlines today are reporting that Spyware goons have caught on and are circulating a program that poses as WGA.
Full story available Here (http://www.infopackets.com/channels/en/windows/gazette/2006/20060708_wga_imitation_spyware_cant_blame_microsoft_for_this_one.htm).

Hi Bob3160,

I have posted about this some time ago:

Did you miss that one? Well it goes to show that all that you load onto your system should be checked and doublecheced. It could be malware, and it could be suspect anti-spyware. I also use a dll.check to seeif I do not have any dll conflicts (because if the dll does not give the full functionality, you can imagine what will happen, either a crash or loss of system stability or loss of system components even). If you care a hoot, try to get a hunch of what you have under the hood.
