Title: Feature Request : update upon installation
Post by: rangoon_fr on July 14, 2006, 07:43:23 PM
Hello,

back from my undetected infection, at last ! ;-)

I was wondering if it could be possible to automatically launch a request for update upon installation (could be with user validation), particularly with virus definition...

I just installed - again - and Avast asked me to reboot before even offering to update, so I had to postpone the reboot, launch the whole interface (the taskbar icon was not activated yet since I just installed), update then reboot.

Thanks for your concern,

sorry I missed the WISH_LIST topic, though it appears first...

You need to reboot to fully install the avast program components, so I don't think it wise to attempt an update before you reboot.

The setupeng file that you download should have a very recent full virus signature file (VPS) in it, so it won't be far out of date and the program side of it will be the latest version.

When you first connect to the internet after reboot the auto update process will check to see if there are any updates. If there are the incremental update will be applied, providing that is how you have the auto updates set.
