Title: What is avdump32.exe?
Post by: spoony_bard on October 28, 2018, 08:50:24 PM
My computer was running a bit slow and I looked in the task manager and saw this process, running from C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast. I haven't seen it before and I always keep a close eye on running processes. Thanks.

Oh, I'm using avast free on w7.

Hi spoony_bard,
avdump32.exe creates *.dmp files of avast processes in case there is an unhandled exception.

Oh okay, so it doesn't mean there was a problem or virus? After it popped up, Avastsvc.exe started using over a GB in RAM for a little while. Thanks for responding.

Hi spoony_bard,
it means there was a unexpected avast application crash. You can take a look into
avast log folder for dumps  (usually it is c:\Program Data\Avast Software\Avast\log)
search for *.mdmp files.

Zip few *.mdmp files to spoony_bard_crash_10_2018.zip and upload it to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming for analysis.
Thank you for report !
