Title: Acronis 19 Rescue Media Will Not Boot On USB Flash Drive
Post by: REDACTED on November 06, 2018, 01:26:39 AM
I have a NUC8i7HVK with UEFI Intel Visual Bios. It allows boot from USB devices by setting USB Devices Boot First to Enabled and Boot USB to Enabled, with Legacy Boot also enabled. It will boot numerous USB Flash drives that I have that are bootable WINPE based, except for the one I make with Avast Pro Antivirus which I have the latest version of. I have made the rescue media twice now on 2 different USB flash drives and neither will boot. During boot both blink alerting me that some reading(?) is going on but the boot continues into Windows 64-bit Pro 1809. When i try other bootable winpw usb flash drives they all boot. Anybody have any ideas as to why only the Avast Rescue media refuses to boot? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also I can't hardly read or hear that damn verification code. I think Avast just doesn't want you to post anything. I can see the rescue disk in disk management and it shows it as an Active, Primary Partition. File explorer also sees what looks like standard winpe files and folders.

Yes I just tried to boot both USB flash drives from my sister's computer, that is known to boot all my other USB flash drives, after I changed the boot order in the bios. Also recognized as Active,Primary partitions in Disk Manager. One USB flash drive is a Sandisk ultra 32gb while the other is a Patriot 16gb. Her USB ports are USB 2.0, while all of mine are USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 ie 5Gbps. I can't remember if these flash drives are USB 2.0 or 3.0. I guess I'm gonna have to call Tech Support. TIA

Well I just got off Technical Support and it seems that the so-called bootable rescue media usb /cdrom doesn't seem to work and its a known issue. I tried 2 different usb flash drives, created 5 different times on 2 different systems and the usb flash rescue media will not boot on either system. I laso tried burning a cdrom thats also usb and it also will not boot from either system. I set both systems to boot usb but that makes no difference. Seems TS says this is a known issue. They didn't even know what winpe based bootable flash drives are.  So I will use Avast Pro Antivirus for the year I have purchased it and then probably move to ESET. At least I can boot a windows defender antivirus from usb flash at a minimum. I ought to ask for a refund of my purchase rprice and just move on.
