Title: Switching a System back to Avast--Any steps need to follow
Post by: Patrick2 on December 05, 2018, 01:12:32 AM
Hi All

Upgraded Laptop to 1809 about 2-4 weeks ago,  remembers forgot to reinstall Avast (knows I should immediately or asap) and make sure Defender disabled,  Desktop already had issue of corrupted user profile from I guess trying Defender a bit on that system lol.      Do I have to make sure any group policies off for Defender, or PUA protection in registry or anything.

Thank you all in advance

P.S. might already know the answer to this, but thought i'd ask just in case lol

In Windows 10 if you install a 3rd party antivirus (including avast) it should disable Defender without the user having to do anything.  At least that is what windows is meant to do.

Ok Excellent!,  just wanted to be sure, kinda already knew that, but sometimes mind draws a blank on simplest things when really shouldn't

Title: Re: Switching a System back to Avast--Any steps need to follow! Solved

Issue Solved!---Avast back in on Desktop and Laptop, and all seems to be well

before I had my Temporary internet file folder disappearing in Windows 10 Internet options,   deep down I knew wasn't Avast causing it, if was would be a big news story in the tech web,  so against my local PC techs advice I decided to do a repair install of Windows 10 Pro x64 on the Desktop and so far seems to have completely solved the issue was having with the Temporary Internet file folder going missing and Edge stopping to work

Local PC tech kept saying you don't need Avast,  you got Defender that offers same or better protection

Anyways happy to stick with Avast here!!
