Title: Is it normal for avast to be scanning sites in the exclusion list?
Post by: REDACTED on December 07, 2018, 12:56:12 AM
I have both https://www.twitch.tv/* and  https://www.youtube.com/* in the exclusion list for urls yet avast keeps scanning them.( I did restart shields but it doesn't work)Is this normal behaviour?I recently upgraded to w10 from w7 and I don't remember constant scanning going around.

Update:I can stop the scanning temporarily if I disable and re-enable the shields while watching multiple streams  but as soon as I open a new twitch tab/stream avast goes back to scanning as usual again.

Is this a bug? It's like it can only stop scanning from instances of streams/videos from in-between the disable/enable of the shields but as soon as something new pops up it goes back to scanning(like opening a new tab of twitch or youtube)

Avast Programm version:18.8.2356 (build 18.8.4084.0)

Virus definition 181206-4

I only have the 4 shields installed since the OS  was freshly installed like a couple of hours ago.

Thankfully it doesn't scan While I'm only gaming but I usually have twitch or youtube in the background because I like to listen to podcasts which make scan start scanning again.(which might or might not impact performance.I don't really know tbh it usually only takes 1% every time it scans)

My other option if this is indeed a bug is to disable shields while playing games and listening to streams at the same.Hopefully it shouldn't be a problem since both sites (twitch/youtube) and black desert have legit companies behind them and shouldn't endanger my PC.

Hit uninstall>repaired>rebooted and the problem still persists.Like I said.If I disable shields and re-enable them while watching a stream/s it stops scanning. But as soon as I open a new tab either youtube/twitch it starts scanning again.

- OS..? (32/64 Bit..? - which SP/Build..?)
- Other security related software installed..?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?

-OS windows 10 home version 1803 (OSbuild 17134.441)
-I have windows defender turned off trough registry (since I use avast)
-None

Some other things I'd like to point out.

-The constant scanning stops when I'm playing games or simply browsing. (but will show come up again if I use twitch/youtube at the same time to listen too in the background but stops as soon as I close them)It seems videos/stream triggers the scan regardless of exclusion
-Usually scan starts to scan once every time I open a site and go away.(I take it this as normal because it does a 1 tiem scan of the site once it loads)

As you can see in the picture below called proof3.Scan is scanning my twitch stream in the background

And  picture proof5 after I disabled/re-enabled scans shields it stops scanning the current open  twitch tab.(Untill I open another twitch or youtube tab which then results in scan starting to scan again.

1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

I did as Instructed.Downloaded both files.

-Rebooted in safe mode used the cleaner.
-restarted PC
-Downloaded offline setupexe.
-went to option in exclusions to re-list https://www.youtube.com/ and https://www.twitch.tv/ in the global whitelist
-Wierdly enough hitting browse for file paths to re-list blackdesert took ages.Avast was basically stuck in a loading screen (probably loading the files or something.still wierd it took so long 5mins for the first time.I tried to browse and exclude another file and this time was instant.)
-Disabled/enabled shields and reboot PC just incase

-On Reboot I went on twitch aaand....problem still persists even on whitelist.
-I tried disabling/enabling shields and it did stop current scanning on current twitch tabs open but it comes back by simply refreshing the twitch page/youtube

-Again.When I open a new page 1 scan happens (which I assume it's normal since it tries to detect anything harmful in a new opened page) and it either closes down or pokes every once in a while at 0.1 cpu usage.I'm ok with this.
- Constant scanning only happens when watching streams or youtube videos (which I have both in exclusions) but doesn't happen when I watch videos in a streaming site.Maybe it's how youtube and twitch deliver their videos?
-Gaming is not effected and the constant scanning either doesn't pop up when starting a game or it's just there for a second for the initial start of the game (Again I think it's normal behaviour)

I am proper stumped.I guess Il just have shields off when visiting youtube/twitch and play games.
