I really do like Avast and recommend it and even install it on friends and family’s computers, but sometimes I worry about it…
This is more rhetorical than not, but why is Avast so inconsistent? A while back I did a post on the Sensitive Data scan when running a Quick scan. It still sometimes shows up and sometimes doesn’t.
Then two day ago on ‘my’ computer I get an Avast popup that a new version is available. So I immediately go to ‘her’ computer to do the update before she uses it. Her version says it’s the latest-n-greatest. So I double check and hers is set to auto-update. OK fine.
I come back to my computer, which is Not set to auto-update, only to find that it now says I also have the latest-n-greatest version installed. And that’s just in a matter of a couple of minutes, not even long enough for my computer to restart automatically.
I check versions on both computers and they match.
This morning while running Windows’ updates on her computer, I check with Avast for other updates; two required. So, when done, I come back to mine to do the same.
Avast tells me I need to update Flash, the same as hers, but it also tells me to update Firefox. But it tells me Firefox’s latest-n-greatest is version 45.0!! Ahhh… my Firefox is updated and it’s version 64.0 as shown in the attachments.

Do you by chance still have an old 32 bit version of FF installed ???

Wow… Thanks bob3160! My immediate response was, ‘No.’ But I fired up Revo Uninstall just to make sure. And poof, there it was! Firefox 45, 32 bit.
I uninstalled it, remove all directory remnants, and tested it in Avast: it’s recommendation to update Firefox 45 is now gone.
Again, thanks!
