May I suggest the sticky post above about a new version of ASB be updated whenever the browser is updated?
-
Added latest version to first post.

Use of a stub installer is troubling in that it is possible to get a corrupted installation if the web connection is less than stellar.
Why no full offline installer?

Thanks Asyn, I adjusted the Topic Subject to reflect latest version :)
-
For me, the download did not update the browser.
-
Interesting, my Browser updated automatically so perhaps the version from the link isn't updated.
Its the Website link.

Yup, same here, automatic updating of the browser.
Just the way it should be.

Hi Bob, that would be great. I had to update it manually (again).

Here's what I was told by Avast in the developers forum:
"For already installed browsers, the update is being released more slowly.
If there is a problem in the new verson, we will be able to see it in data and fix it prior updating most of our users!"
That actually makes sense to me.
-
That actually makes sense to me.
Hi Bob, maybe for the average user, but I'm on ASB beta-channel and it didn't work here either. Cheers
Let's see if this changes after today's announcement: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=226524.0
-
I'm still seeing:
"Avast Secure Browser is up to date
Version 72.0.1174.122 (Official Build) (32-bit)"
Guess I will wait a bit for an automatic update, before I force it.
-
Hi guys, beta channel working from now: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=226524.0
Verify that you are actually using browser beta on about page. Thanks
-
Thanks Ondrej, good to know. :)

Should this topic now be labelled 73.0.1258.87 (Beta) ?
At present people will be misled to think 73.0.1258.87 is latest stable version of ASB from just looking at the topic header, then complain that auto update does not work without reading the whole thread.
Just a thought.
-
I am confused (easily done )
Going by sumo updater the latest version is 73.0.1270.87.
I downloaded installer from avast secure home page https://www.avast.com/en-au/secure-browser (https://www.avast.com/en-au/secure-browser)
I installed and now have 73 .0.1270.87 and I have nothing of this being a beta.
Edit: I had version 73.0.1258 .87 installed before I updated. (that also did not say it was a beta version)

That's because you aren't using the beta version. If you want the beta version you need to follow these instructions:

OK. I am confused as to why I am stuck on "72.0.1174.122 (Official Build) (32-bit), which is still indicated as the "up to date" version.
If not in Beta, surely v73 should by now be offered for normal in browser automatic update?

The in browser update function does not work as efficently as some would like.
Use the link provided and download/install the latest stable version
-
OK. I have now manually downloaded and installed Avast Secure Browser Version 73.0.1270.87 (Official Build) (32-bit) over the top of Version 72.
I assume Avast plan to fix the in-browser automatic update mechanism same as other browsers, so that ASB is always kept properly up-to-date and secure according to its name.
-
Yes. :)
-
Yes. :)
But not as quickly as the updates on the Beta channel.

Surf the web more securely with the latest version of Avast Secure Browser, called Aspen.

Hi guys,
the update button works on 100%. We just do not release the update to whole user base in one day. That would be very risky!
If you are interested in getting the latest changes ASAP, please consider installing beta channel! Thanks
-
Thanks Ondrejz. :)

Hi,
Newbie here...
Install free Avast and get Secure browser too.
I see that your secure browser is x32 bit application, my OS is x64 bit and I love to have all posible apps in x64 versions.
Is there any chance that Avast Secure Browser will be x64 ???
-
Not at present.
-
Ok, thanks...
I will use my Chrome x64 Browser with AdGuard :)
-
Is update via browser still not working then. Mine is telling me 73.0.1270 is latest version.
Edit: I have just manually downloaded and installed v74. Why is automatic updating not working?
Why does Avast Software Updater not detect and update old versions of ASB?
I find it appalling that Avast do not fix automatic update, as having an out-of-date browser is not good news.
Thanks to Aysn for notifying latest release version on this forum, but we should not need to consult the forum to discover our version is old and then have to go to Avast website and download latest ASB afresh.

Note, there's also a x64 version now..!! :) (77.0.1803.76 - Avast Secure Browser 64-bit)
Dev-Info: We install the 64-bit version to new versions (where supported). We plan to automatically updating users from 32bit to 64bit in the future, at the moment we’re QA’ing this to make sure the mechanism works as expected. Need to make sure it doesn’t break anything!

The difference is that 77.1.1831.91 is the latest version and has been put out via ASB website download link.
I do not Know Change log info
Edit: The in-browser update function showed .1829 as up to date and is often slower to update then website link.
I updated via website download link, however some have been updated automatically.
