Title: Cannot open Avast installer on Windows Vista
Post by: Dom_ on January 14, 2019, 09:42:50 PM
Hi!  :)
I am experiencing an issue with the Avast installer.
I have downloaded Avast Free Antivirus, but when I try to open it I get the following error:
"The procedure entry point K32GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."
I have tried to download the offline installer, but the same exact error appears.
I have tried to unblock the file from the security settings (because Windows Vista blocks files) but the error still occurs.
What can be done to fix this?
Let me know if there is any specific update that addresses this error.
Thanks in advance!

PC Specs:
HP G7000
Intel Pentium Dual Core T2370 1.73GHZ
2GB RAM
Windows Vista SP2 32-Bit

You have to use the "online" installer stub for XP and Vista.

Hi schmidthouse.
I have mentioned that I have tried BOTH the online and offline installers. Both give the same error.

Edit: I tried the download you provided and it seems to be working! Thanks a ton.
If anything else happens i'll inform you.

schmidthouse is the hero of the day.

Version 18.8 is the last supported version for both XP and Vista.

That will be enough of that. ;)
