I am unable to install Avast on a laptop. Every time it installs, it always says that it was successful but every time I try to open Avast, I always get
"the exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occurred in the application at 0xf97ce76f.
Click OK to terminate the program"
I tried countless repair installs and clean installs but the error message persists no matter what I do
Googling the message only brought up 2014 results. There is absolutely nothing recent or even from 2018, the latest result on this error message is December 2014

- Which Avast..? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
- Which version..?

Premier/Latest version/Windows 7/AVG (long ago)
I needed to reinstall because the same thing that I mentioned the other day with the "unexpected error" happened on my second PC. Has not happened on the third (yet)

Windows 7 SP1? If you are not at SP1, Avast does not support original Windows 7 version.
Example: Do you have iOBit installed?
