Title: Simplicity NOT! Problems with downloads and with updates

Simplicity NOT! Problems with downloads and with updates since 19.1.2360

This new interface touted having simplicity is hiding useful information. Some of us don't have UNLIMITED internet and try to conserve data.

With multiple installations, it makes sense to download a full offline installer ONCE and manually update to save data; as well as not be a bandwidth hog.

Thanks to some members on here for posting release histories and links for downloads, it helps.  And thank you avast! for all you do, I'm sorry this is negative, I don't mean to offend.

So the interface prior to 19.1.2360 would show it's current (out of date version) and the new version. Now it only shows the current version.  Since the Avast download links don't show what the version being offered for download is, there no way to tell.

I realize not everyone understands these methods or wants them, but some do and it would be nice if there were settings in the program to choose these elements or display them.  Even better, offer different interfaces or even themes.  An ftp site would be nice too, with pub access so it's clear what's offered for download.  It would be nice if the avast! program could allow a choice of where to download an update or at least show where it's being stored.

I bring all this up because yesterday, I clicked "CHECK FOR UPDATES," I have it set on manual. The program downloaded the update, that's NOT the same as CHECKING;  No way to cancel...Over 300Mb.  Trying to salvage, I'd hoped to find the offline installer on my desktop, apparently that only happens when installing manually.  I tried to find the download on my storage, couldn't.

All my other installations are nagging me to update, so I downloaded AGAIN off the avast! website, another 300+ Mb.  It's not the new version, but the outdated one.  So now I've used almost 1/4 of my metered data and gotten nowhere except for some education:)

Thanks again for making this program available.

You can always use the "about" function to check your current installed version.
Right click on the Avast icon in your system tray
