Yes a bit of a curse, the cost of free.

If you have just reinstalled avast recently, then the nag screens are a little more frequent, but should taper off.

I have been using avast free from late 2003 and whilst this nagging has become more frequent in the last couple of years, I don't get so many as to raise my blood pressure.  I guess I have a higher pain/nag threshold.

I don't know why marketing think that this approach is productive, I feel that it is counter productive, turning down the volume/frequency would possibly yield better results.  It certainly couldn't be any worse, imho.

I agree with you... Can I block AvastUI by firewall, will that turn off notifications, and doing so is there any negative impact to antivirus engine itself... Thanx

Well I have never bothered trying to block them and whilst blocking avastUI.exe could possibly block them I don't know if that could also have an undesirable impact.  Whilst the avastUI.exe isn't specifically security related, other things caught up in this block.

Some have also tried running in Silent/Gaming mode, A.K.A. Do Not Disturb.  That also has an impact in that there is no interaction with any alerts, etc. Avast would still deal with alerts, etc. according to your settings.

I wouldn't block anything but consider these nags to be the cost of being free...your antivirus is what protects you, don't take steps to weaken it.

You do have the option to turn off (most all) nags in paid versions.

You may possibly reduce nags by selecting only those Avast components that you really need via:-
Menu>Settings>Troubleshooting

I'm sure you meant that they need to remove all those components that are paid items and aren't being used.
