Title: Free Avast Program Security update failed

Have the new 2019 free Avast program installed on Jan. 3, 2019, now program updates won't work.  Have my program updates on automatic update.  Checked the program update section and it says the update failed.  I keep clicking on the "Check for Updates" and it says there's a problem or whatever and that it failed in red and it says "please try again."  I guess it's a new build.  I'm not very good with computers.  I don't know what to do?  Not even able to uninstall and reinstall the program.  Tried that before.  I am using Windows 7.  Anyone else having this problem?  Virus definitions update automatically but the program won't.  Last year all my program updates worked fine, but not this year.

Do Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

[/quote]yes same here had to update flash through windows update and adobe manually.

Something blocking Avast to update. Try to Repair Avast.
If don't work, then uninstall avast. Restart computer and install again.
A few month ago I have faced this type problem. I was watching a youtube video installing a new toilet. I just got my new Toto Ultramax toilet https://bestflushingtoilet.org/toto-toilets/ultramax-review/. My pc start to hang and I cannot watch toilet installation video properly. After that, I started repairing and it solved the problem.

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
If your Avast settings are not the default settings and you want them restored after the Clean Install, follow this before removing Avast.
