Title: DYLD, [0x1] Library missing
Post by: sbbrenner on February 18, 2019, 07:27:13 PM
My Avast Mac Security, 13.11, "Cannot be opened because of a problem."  Apple's report identifies the termination cause as "DYLD, [0x1] Library missing."  Apple support says this is the key information, but further detail is available:

Dyld Error Message:
  Library not loaded: @rpath/libprotobuf-lite.8.dylib
  Referenced from: /Applications/Avast/Avast.app/Contents/MacOS/Avast
  Reason: image not found

Hello Mr. sbbrenner,

It is strange that you have Avast installed in /Applications/Avast/Avast.app. Our Installer does not allow that and we are installing to /Applications/Avast.app. Did you by any chance move Avast.app manually? Please move Avast.app back to /Applications folder and try again.

I suppose Avast UI will start after that, but you might experience some issues with our services not running. They should fix themselves in a few minutes. If they do not, please try to restart your Mac.

Best regards,

Jakub
