Title: Yahoo said my account has been comprimised. Was this even Yahoo?
Post by: valhalla300 on April 02, 2019, 11:11:22 PM
I was trying to contact Yahoo to find out what some old Yahoo CD I found was. I finally found a site that had a chat that gave me a phone number to call. I called the number and the guy did not say Yahoo. After talking about the CD he asked for my Yahoo account and then he was telling me that it was good that I called because it looked like my account had been compromised because someone overseas tried to get into my account. He had me go to Yahoo.com and then open the event viewer to look at Administrative Events and asked if I saw any errors or warnings. There were many of them from today going back to 2016 or earlier. I never use my Yahoo account. Once in a great while I might use it for something but no more than a few times a year if that.

The source for this warning was DNS Client Events and it described as "Name resolution for the name teredo.ipv6.microsoft.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded." He was saying I should not use the internet and that I need a Cyber Security professional to help me with this. Then he wanted to connect me to their secure server at some web site. That's when I hung up. I just had a suspicious feeling about this.

Any feedback from anybody about this?

Thanks!

Consider yourself lucky. You were about to turn all your information over to a crook.
