??? OK so I finally think I have things undercontrol here and then I go and look at the logged events and I see this:
Yesterday at 4:47:17 PM 3254790021 Server License for the product AV_NETC is expired. Program cannot continue.
anyone seen it before? What should I do? Is it hindering any of the functioning of my system? I have attached a copy of my license and it looks fine to me, maybe this is referring to something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please try just restarting the "avast! Management Server" service. I think there's a problem in the current version of ADNM that causes the new license to not become effective until the service is actually restarted.

Morning Vlk,
Well I restarted the server last night and now "avast! Management Server" will not start up - or let us log on (password is correct) All I get is:
"No connetion could be made because the target machine actively refused it"
in the event viewer under anti-virus: (these are 5 seconds apart)
"License for the product AV_NETC is expired. Program cannot continue."
"Internal error has occurred in module aswNeSer.dll, function CServer::MirrorThread()."
Any ideas??

Well, the screenshot you posted is obviously from an AVAST ANTIVIRUS installation (given the folder name), not from the MANAGEMENT SERVER (i.e. ADNM) itself.
Is the license inserted correctly in the ADNM? Use the "AMS Maintenance Tool" to do this... (Start -> Avast! Management Tools -> AMS Maintenance).

that was the expired licence issue, ADNM still had the demo license in use.
this WEBforum has the best admins I've ever seen. I really do appreciate all the help. Vlk you, and all the admins here, have been kind enough to answer my questions quickly and very accurately. I try to help others out as much as I can but I'm defiantly not as experienced with avast, but I'll help where I can. This is a great community and I'm glad I made the choice to go with AVAST for my company. Once again thank you very much!

I'm glad that the problem is now solved. Ready to go to the Monument Valley! ;D (right now, I'm still in a hotel in Flagstaff but the checkout time is noon - i.e. in about ten minutes. Gotta go now :))
