Title: Avast installed and re-installed itself without asking permission
Post by: rattenhoofd on April 12, 2019, 10:05:12 PM
I never gave consent to do this. This makes me angry.

Why would an anti-virus program even have browser? It's never gonna be even half as good as Google Chrome anyway.

It's installed because you at one time had the SafeZone Browser which was discontinued.
It actually happens to be a pretty good browser:

The Avast Secure Browser (ASB) is based on Chromium, so it has a lot of the features of Google Chrome...

I haven't used either as I don't particularly like Google Chrome.  I have never given permission and Avast has never installed either the SafeZone Browser or the ASB on my systems.

I don't recall clicking on anything. Avast browser has set itself as a startup program. I went into my task manager to try and disable it as a startup program but it is not there, just a couple of Avast things that can't be disabled. I am so frustrated. Do not set things like browsers as startup programs please, don't even ask. I am so annoyed.

And please do not just sit here and post links and defend yourselves, just say you're sorry and quit doing these things. It feels like people here are saying they feel their personal property (their computer) was taken advantage of by you guys, if even only a small way, and it is not right. So do not act like they are out of line, you just simply have to stop doing it.

"We" like you are Avast users. I don't know what you mean by defending ourselves. We're simply giving you information.
