Title: High CPU Temps With Latest Avast on Win10x64
Post by: Patrick2 on June 01, 2019, 09:50:05 PM
Windows 10 1903 18362.145
Clean Install of New Windows, and Avast Free

Symptoms of possible problem

High CPU temps during file transfers,  Gaming, and such tasks,    Fully Removed Avast via Add/Remove Programs, and Avast Clear, and manually removed all the folders could fine,  Temps seem back to normal range for my Intel I7 Desktop PC,  Temporarily using Windows Defender while I sort out this issue, if it's something with hardware or if it's really indeed software.   Dust clean out completed a month ago, with my can of compressed air, and my electric duster, including cleaning of video card fan.

Any advice, tips, or suggestions appreciated

P.S. Avast was at default settings, except scan for pups was checked in trouble shooting section (could that been the cause, I don't know)

Willing to do another clean install of Avast if that is advised

Limit Avast Service High CPU Usage by new Avast Geek option

Make a Reboot after enable Set CPU Limit option.
This would only apply if you're using the Do Not Disturb Mode. So make sure you install DND Mode.

If not solved try
Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.
