Title: Passwords not auto-completing
Post by: TomBee069 on June 06, 2019, 07:48:20 AM
Hello,
I have searched the forum but cannot seem to find a solution, so apologies if this has been posted before.
PC Win 10 / Firefox 67.0.1 (64-bit) / Avast Premier 19.5.2378 (build 19.5.4444.502) updated 4 June, 2019.
Problem: Prior to recent update, clicking on extension (orange key) started to result in a continuously spinning icon with the word "loading", even though previously everything seemed to good. After the recent update, clicking the orange key does absolutely nothing.
Trying to login to various websites (including online banking) - login credentials do NOT auto-complete as they did prior to update.
However, all my passwords are viewable and accessible through  the main Avast desktop interface.

I do not have any other device so synching is not applicable.

Password extension behaves perfectly well and credentials are auto-completed when using Chrome browser.

Is this an Avast problem or a Firefox problem? Either way, is there a suitable resolution available?

Many thanks

Tom

Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Might be a bug, wait for one of the devs and/or submit a ticket: https://support.avast.com/contact (paid versions)

I have the exact same problem. Avast doesn't appear to be starting properly. If I start it manually then restart Firefox it works, but intermittently.

I have recently migrated to Avast Passwords from passwords stored in Chrome, trying to loosen my ties with Google a bit. The program itself is quite neat but compared to Chrome's native password manager and to Android's auto-fill, Avast Passwords barely work. Sadly, it's a bad UX.

Quite often times, the browser add-on does not recognize I'm on a log-in form and doesn't auto-fill anything so I must open the app, search for my credentials and manually copy them over. The same for the registration forms, only once I have seen the inline password generator to pop up under the password field. At least the side panel with a password generator can be opened manually if nothing else.

In general, however, the browser workflows are much better than on Android, there the overlay either does not show up at all, or shows up just to disappear again when I interact with it.
