The video downloader isn't working, as some others have reported. On YouTube, on video pages the icon is there but is grey, and it says there are no videos to download (although there obviously is). Can this be fixed please?

Thank you for reporting the issues you are experiencing using the Video Downloader extension. We are aware of the issues with Youtube for some users, and our development team is currently working on a solution that should be released with the next version.

What version ASB are you running?
Avast Team Member BWhit says in Reply# 1 that this issue will be fixed in the next version. Latest version is now 75.0.1447.81, old one you likely reported issue on was 74.0.1376.132. Version numbers do make a difference as security fixes and updates are bundled in only on newer versions.
Just ran a music video and got sound, was able to download via Video Downloader, and run the mp4 with sound and am running 74.0.1376.132.
It's possible you've accumulated a bit of internet dross in your ASB browser over time.
Suggest doing a Ctrl+Shift+Del and ticking off what you think will clear your issue(s). Just be aware if you go too deep, you can lose your desktop shortcuts temporarily, so if you want to keep them, do a little cleaning at a time until your issue clears. You might be surprised at how much data is stored inside ASB if you've never done this before.
Anyway, your music block could be put down to copyright restrictions, and, depending on what these are, may not be much Avast could, or should, do about them.

Did that; didn't work. I heavily doubt that it has anything to do with copyright because it didn't have this issue before. Try these links yourself, it might just be me:

I have done some more testing and some videos work, and some don't. The video downloader is a bit patchy. The ones that don't work don't seem to be because of copyright, because some copyright-free videos don't work. I think I'll need to wait longer for this to be fully fixed.
EDIT: I did some more testing and it is really, really odd. It seems that videos that have some sort of music in them (full songs, not just bits of songs) don't work, regardless of copyright, but some videos that don't have any music in them may work or may not work. This is a really strange glitch. Hopefully it gets working again like it did before, because one of the few reasons I use ASB is to download music for listening to without adverts. Without it, ASB is just wasted space on my hard drive.

This glitch still hasn't been fixed, which is very annoying. To download music I'll need to use the usual Virus International to download a very bad MP3 file that also downloads seven viruses and deletes System32. If this isn't fixed, I'm afraid this will be a complete uninstall for me.
What's the point of getting rid of the best feature in the browser? I mean, the only reason people get the browser, when Google Chrome is supported much more and probably just as safe. Come on guys.

The videos the user linked to don't download in the newest video either.
This looks like a copyright restriction since other videos work without problems even when they contain music.

I am having the same problem and I have did some checking and this is not a copyright problem. The latest beta: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=228393.0 did not fix the problem .The problem is that Youtube has all music videos and videos with music filed under the new youtube music channel hope this information will help avast fix the problem.

A couple of days ago, it actually worked! I was able to download some music by David Bowie... But today it broke again.

My downloader has also disappeared, I have tried to repair and reload the program to no avail. I am running the premier version.

2. Click on "Help and About Avast Secure Browser" and then "About Avast Secure Browser"

4. Click the "COPY TO CLIPBOARD" button to capture the information and paste it here.

Idk what is going on but avst video downloader stopped working, I tried restarting, Reinstalling, updating, pretty much everything at this point.

I can confirm the problem and have reported it to Avast.
Let's see if that helps to get the problem fixed.

In the "Video Downloader" v2.3.107 extension details, try to disable "allow in toolbar" and then re-enable it.
In my case the icon at the top is displayed again ;)

I've tried toggling the video downloader off and on...restarting the browser and the computer and i cant get it to show the youtube icon or the green download above the video screen in youtube videos. I have the same version of windows 10 and browser Version 86.1.6938.199 and video downloader version 2.3.107 on my desktop computer and it works fine so i'm sure it isn't the videos i'm trying to download off of youtube being blocked or it would block on both computers....any suggestions??? I cant seem to update the browser version on the Acer laptop to the one i have on my desktop (the laptop says my browser is up to date)

This is very strange. I downloaded some YT vids at 11.30am yesterday. When I came back to download some more at 6.30pm (this is all NZ time) the video downloader was no longer working. Nor was it working on the videos I downloaded successfully earlier in the morning. Yet I was already on the latest version of the browser both times (86.1.6938.199) as the browser updated the day before (according to my control panel), and I was also already running version 2.3.107 of the downloader.
It still works fine on dailymotion, just not on YT. My guess is YT did something in that six hour window to stop the downloader from working. I've had no updates in that period (windows, graphics, nothing....) that could have interfered.
Running windows 10 1909 (2004/20H2 id blocked due to audio driver incompatibility) & windows defender.

You might want to try restarting your computer.

A restart has not helped. I just searched the video you used in your example and it does not work for me, even if it does work for you. As I said, it was functioning fine on exactly the same browser and extension version yesterday AM but not yesterday PM or today. Perhaps another browser extension has updated that is interfering, as I make a habit of checking for extension updates each browsing session. The only other thing to change was an apparent line drop out, as I see my IP has changed. My router log shows this happened within that 6hr window. I doubt that could be the cause though...

@bob3160 - Yes still 2.3.107, as it was for both my browsing sessions yesterday when it was, then wasn't working. It's been on that version for a week or maybe longer. I tried disabling and enabling it, but no effect. The greeen bar does not appear to select the size to download, and the toolbar icon remains greyed out. It is still functioning normally on Dailymotion, just not Youtube (for me anyway).

I notice you are also running 1909. Interestingly the same versions of both the browser, the extension and my windows version were working fine yesterday morning, just not yesterday afternoon onwards. I notice you said it is working for you on your desktop - can you please tell me what version of windows you are using on your desktop - it is also 1909? Because if it is running something other than 1909, it might be an issue with 1909 (though that doesn't explain why it worked in the morning and didn't in the afternoon for me... I haven't had a windows update in that time).
Might have to see if others report problems to try and figure out the common denominators. I see bob3160 has escalated this while I've been typing. Cheers bob.

FYI I tried disabling every single extension on avast secure browser - both the preinstalled avast ones, and also ones I've added from the Chrome Store. I then cleared the cache & history etc fully and restarted the browser with everything still disabled except for the video downloader extension. It still shows the toolbar icon greyed out and no green bar on YT videos to select the quality and download them. I tried this to eliminate an extension which may have updated between my morning session when the video downloader was working, and my afternoon session when it wasn't. I do know I was on the same latest version of the browser and of the video downloader on both occasions, but wondered if another extension update or a filter list in one of the ad/tracking/ blockers had a new entry that might be interefering. It seems not...
The only other thing I can think of that may have changed between the time it was and wasn't working the other day, is one of the many things listed on the secure://components/ page, but I have no way to check that or to undo anything that got an update. I haven't changed any settings in the browser since is was and wasn't working either. It's a real puzzle!
There would have between virus definition updates for windows defender, but I'd be surprised if it was that. WD does not appear to have blocked or be blocking anything.....

Clean install of the Secure Browser:
Maybe it's time for a clean install of the Secure Browser
Download the installer from here, https://www.avast.com/en-us/secure-browser
Download the Secure Browser Removal tool from here, https://download.avastbrowser.com/avast_secure_browser_uninstall.exe
Save your Bookmarks via the Bookmarks Manager if you have custom bookmarks so you can import them when you re-install.
Uninstall Secure Browser via Programs and Features - Reboot
Run the removal tool, reboot, run the installer import your favorites if you saved them.

Report back if that's solved the problem or not.
Avast has offered a separate tool to totally remove the Secure Browser if the above instructions don't work.

update: I checked my laptop today and it says im using Avast Secure Browser Version 86.1.6938.199 and video downloader 2.4.121 and the downloader seems to be working now....it must have updated on its own at some point but thanks for fixing it

Video Downloader just quit working. I got a message back on 12/4 that it was a google update that was messing it up previously. Can you please check what they have done now? Also previous to that it was a Youtube change. The advice to re-install when we first report these things does not make me happy when in the end it most always is not on the customer side. Last time I had a tech remote working on my computer for over an hour just to find out it was google.
I plead with you, Please add a down load button for BITCHUE, RUMBLE and any or all Video platforms besides Youtube. Most people are leaving this platform anyway. I would gladly pay extra for this!

Check IF (you have the Avast video downloader installed by using the Diagnostic information)
{
1- Press F10 and then Enter (NOT at same time, but in that order).
2- Click on settings (a context menu will open at the right of your browser with different options, click on Settings.
3- Go to the last option on left tab which should be "About Avast Secure Browser" it's green.
4- Click on Diagnostic Information.

In there you will find all your extension list, and also the Enabled and Disabled Extensions.
IF {you find the Avast Video Downloader Disabled in there},
THEN
{
1- Just go to secure://extensions/
2- click on Developer mode switch button (green is on, grey is off) obviously.
3- look for Avast Video Downloader and turn on the extension.
