Title: Can't change avast.com avatar
Post by: Marnes on June 22, 2019, 07:42:55 PM
Hi

I'm trying to change my avatar for (subscriptions.)avast.com, but there are only controls to change my name, not the picture. There's a youtube video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsZTsZMvICM ) showing how it's done, but I don't get those controls (and they're not just visually hidden, I checked with element inspector to see if I could enable them...)

Changing your account picture isn't something you need to buy a subscription for, is it?

The video is old, so much may have changed.

First - There have been many changes to my.avast.com to make it almost redundant other than tracking paid subscriptions.
Second you say you are trying to change it from subscriptions.avast.com and the video is for my.avast.com.  If you are using avast free and have no paid subscriptions, essentially you can't access that area.

That could well make a difference.

In your my.avast.com account is the avatar displayed the same as the one in the forum profile (mine is) ?

What is it that you are trying to achieve ?
You should be able to change your avatar from your forum profile settings.

my.avast.com redirects to subscriptions.avast.com. I can definitely access it, it just says I have no subscriptions.

My avatar on subs.avast.com is different from the one here on the forum, I want it to be the same. I changed it here on the forum, but that didn't change it on the main site. The only area that claims to be for account settings (as shown in the vid), no longer shows the avatar controls.

Currently, under Profile Details, this is all that's available,

There isn't any access to the profile picture. What you see is what you get.

The profile picture can be changed, but only by accessing "Profile details" from the Anti-Theft page and not from the "Subscriptions" page (to access the Anti-Theft screen, please click the 9-square menu icon in the top left of the screen > click "Anti-Theft"). Then the process is the same as per bob3160's Youtube video.

I've reported the issue to our development team responsible for the Avast account pages now.

This worked, thanks

Since the my.avast.com account has now migrated to basically a record of your paid subscriptions ( https://subscriptions.avast.com/ (https://subscriptions.avast.com/) ), it's now mainly used by paid users.
Many of the older functions such as devices protected are no longer working. For those that use only the free versions of Avast, this portal
really isn't of any uses any more.  :(
